Bookkeeper

Crossroads Alliance Church is seeking a part-time Bookkeeper to accurately record the day-to-day financial transactions and to maintain the church’s financial records.

 

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Maintaining confidentiality of personal data
  • Entering and maintaining financial records, receipts, and tithes across church operations
  • Processing Accounts Receivables, Accounts Payables, and General Ledger
  • Verifying transactions using financial software and facilitating journal entries if/as required
  • Monthly bank reconciliation
  • Managing financial procedures and preparing financial statements
  • Manage payroll including source deduction and remittances
  • Communicating with our bank and auditor from time to time
  • Sitting on the Church Finance Committee
  • Engaging with church leadership and Finance Committee
  • Preparing monthly and yearly reports
  • Preparing and reviewing tax forms – GST/HST/CRA
  • Assisting in year end budget preparation
  • Assisting with counting money receipts on Sunday mornings
  • Obtaining cheque signatures (usually on Sunday mornings, or as required)

 

Requirements:

 

  • 3+ years experience in a Bookkeeper position. Experience in a not-for-profit is an asset
  • Understanding of how charity law affects church finances is a benefit
  • Strong understanding of bookkeeping and accounting receivables/payables principals
  • Experience posting and managing accounting records
  • Experience managing confidential information
  • Proficient in QuickBooks Online
  • Ability to work individually and meet deadlines
  • Capable of working well in a committee environment
  • Experienced with data entry
  • Attention to detail and accuracy

 

Flexible part-time hours (estimate 25 hours per month).

Hours will vary depending on the time of the month and the time of the year.
